Taranaki Central Landfill Surveying Project

The Taranaki Central (Eltham) Landfill is a newly established facility designed to manage domestic, household, and general waste from conventional and commercial activities across the South Taranaki, New Plymouth, and Stratford Districts.

Preliminary earthworks were undertaken to enhance the environmental performance of the site and minimise potential nuisance effects associated with landfill operations. These works laid the foundation for a facility that meets both regulatory standards and community expectations.

McKinlay Surveyors was engaged to support the main contractor throughout the construction phase, providing expert surveying services across two key areas. First, precise stake-out for road construction and earthworks across the site, ensuring all civil works were accurately positioned in line with design specifications. Second, end-of-month as-built and volumetric surveys to evaluate completed site works and calculate total earthwork volumes, directly supporting accurate and timely monthly progress payments.
